Pharmacy Technician 

Students will start with the basics, such as medical terminology, and then learn about pharmacy math, pharmacy law, principles of pharmacology and more.

They’ll also learn the business side of a pharmacy, such as prescription processing, billing and inventory, and customer service. In more advanced classes, students will learn to create compound drugs tailored to the needs of an individual patient. Several of these classes will be available in an online or hybrid format, and students will also spend some time in lab spaces provided by area pharmacy partners.

Students will prepare to complete their certification testing in PTCB or other regionally acceptable certifications. Students will complete the KS Work Ready certification.

FACULTY

Natasha Mosher

Natasha Mosher received her national pharmacy technician certification from NHA and earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Washington State University. She has more than 25 years experience working within several pharmacy settings.  She worked as a retail pharmacy technician with Kroger in Kansas and Oregon, has worked in various roles the in-patient pharmacy at Salina Regional Health Center, and worked as a customer service supervisor at KeyCentrix, a pharmacy software company.

Natasha looks forward to bringing her many areas of expertise to the classroom where students will learn about the innerworkings of pharmacy technician careers and the importance and necessity of the job. Her hopes are that students will leave the program with a desire to help their patients and the knowledge to feel comfortable starting out in a new career.
