CERTIFIED HOME HEALTH AIDE

This course is designed  to provide Certified Nurse Aides the skills necessary to provide safe and effective personal care assistance to an individual in the privacy of a home setting. The course consists of 20 clock hours of online or classroom instruction.

Prerequisite: Current Nurse Aide Certification; At least 8th grade reading level verified by placement test.

2 Credit Hour course.

YOU WILL LEARN

  • Provide health care services in patients residences
  • Perform domestic and household tasks
  • Transport and accompany patients to doctors office or to hospital

  • Work as a member of a health care team within scope of practice.

  • Monitor patients (vital signs, temperature, respiration, etc) and report on their condition
  • Maintain patients care records and document provided services

  • Understand nutrition and meal preparation

Naomi Tatro MSN, RN

Naomi Tatro is a Registered Nurse who earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Oklahoma Wesleyan University. She earned her Master of Science in Nursing Education from Western Governors University.

Mrs. Tatro has experience with the aging population from working as a charge nurse and director of nursing in long-term care facilities. She has worked in forensic nursing and pediatric home health. As an educator, she began as a CNA instructor at Cloud County Community College before joining Salina Tech’s Allied Health Program in 2013. Mrs. Tatro later served as a full-time Practical Nursing instructor for Salina Tech before becoming the college’s Director of Nursing and Allied Health in 2023.
