Police Science

Salina Tech’s three-semester Police Science program is designed to prepare students for entry into a variety of law-enforcement and related careers as security officers, corrections officers, and parole and probation officers.

Courses include “Criminal Procedures,” “Criminal Investigation,” “Criminal Justice Interviews and Report Writing” and “Law Enforcement Operations.”

The courses are taught by local law enforcement officers and attorneys — people with career experience in law enforcement and the courts — and are provided online to fit the schedules of busy people.

Plus, all credits earned in our Associate Degree in Police Science program will transfer to Fort Hays State University, where a student can complete a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice. Students completing the AAS degree will complete Kansas Law Enforcement Training (KLETC) certification. Students will also complete the KS Work Ready certification.

FACULTY

Cassie McManigal

Cassie McManigal earned her Bachelor of Art degree in Criminal Justice and Bachelor of Art in Sociology from Kansas Wesleyan University and her Master of Science in Criminal Justice from Boston University. She graduated with the 222nd Basic Training Class at the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center.

Mrs. McManigal has been a dispatcher, police officer, Communications Training Officer and Lead Dispatcher with the Salina Police Department since 2010. She joined the Salina Tech Police Science program in 2018 as an adjunct instructor and in 2020 become the Department Lead and full time instructor.

Mrs. McManigal is a very passionate about teaching criminal justice and is excited to help mold the next generation of law enforcement professionals!

Eric Kruckenberg

Eric Kruckenberg is our second full-time Police Science instructor, coming to Salina Tech from the Lindsborg Police Department where he was a patrol officer, school resource officer and DARE instructor.

He earned his Bachelor of Arts in K-12 Education from Bethany College, and an M.Ed. in Neuroscience and Trauma from Tabor College. He is also a graduate of the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center, the University of Texas Southwestern Paramedic School, the Collin County Community College Fire Academy, and holds a Kansas EMT Certification.

He has served as a Firefighter, Fire Lieutenant, Fire Captain, Chief of Training, EMT and other positions with departments in Kansas and Texas.

David Forristal

David Forristal earned his Master of Science degree in Educational Administration and his Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Administration from Kansas State University.

Mr. Forristal has worked in law enforcement for over 38 years, serving in many different roles from police officer, deputy sheriff, to Chief of Police.  He also has been a Director of Education adjunct instructor in Criminal Justice prior to joining the Salina Tech Police Science program in 2018 as an adjunct instructor.

Angela Fuller

Angela Fuller earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Kansas Wesleyan University, her Master of Science degree in Instructional Technology and Design from Emporia State University and her Master of Business Administration from Kansas Wesleyan University.
Ms. Fuller has been a Dispatcher for the City of Salina since 1998 and is currently a Lead Dispatcher and Communications Training Officer. She joined the Salina Tech Police Science program in 2018 as an adjunct instructor.
